Stage 3 Water Restrictions Take Effect July 3
The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) has announced that effective Friday, July 3, 2026, all CVRD water systems will move to Stage 3 Water Restrictions to help conserve water as the region prepares for continuing drought conditions.
While we are currently enjoying cooler temperatures and the possibility of some rainfall, water conservation remains essential to protect our local water supply throughout the summer.
What Stage 3 Means
Under Stage 3 water restrictions:
- Watering of lawns is prohibited.
- All use of sprinklers and conventional irrigation systems is prohibited.
- Outdoor watering is limited to hand watering or micro/drip irrigation for food gardens and ornamental plants.
- Watering is only permitted before 9:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m. to reduce water loss through evaporation.
We encourage everyone to do their part to conserve water during the summer months. Small changes in our daily water use can make a significant difference in protecting this valuable resource for our community.
