SDRA Annual General Meeting

DATE:  Thursday, May 29th 2025 – 7:00 pm  to 8:45pm

LOCATION: Saltair Community Centre Hall

Membership renewal for the 2024/25 SDRA fiscal year are due at the Annual General Meeting. Please save  us a little time by coming forward with your renewal payment. These are the funds that help pay for functions like the  Public Meeting Hall rentals and our community events.

We are looking for new members to join our board or volunteer for community events.

Area G/Saltair 3 Stream Curbside Collection Totes

Important Notice from Cowichan Valley Regional District:

The CVRD is delivering totes to residents starting April 1 in anticipation of the three-stream curbside collection program beginning in June. Depending on the electoral area you live in, you can expect the following totes/bins to be delivered to your residence this spring:

Saltair Area G residents will receive the following:

  • Bear resistant rolling organics tote. Size 132 Litre
  • Glass Bin Size: 27 Litre
  • Food scrap kitchen bin. Size 18 Litre

*The new totes/bins can be used on your first scheduled pickup day in June.

The CVRD will send an alert via the Cowichan Recycles app to residents the day before the totes/bins are delivered.

Annual Water Flushing Notice

The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) will carry out flushing of the water systems in:

Saltair Area G – Monday, March 18 – Friday, March 22, 2024

Saltair Area G – Monday, March 25 – Thursday, March 28, 2024

Residents may experience some air in the lines and discoloration of the water supply during these operations. Should this occur, running a cold water tap for a short period will help to restore the water quality to normal.

Should the problem persist, please call the CVRD’s Utilities Division at 250 746-2530.

Saltair Seedy Saturday

Saltair’s 5th Annual Seedy Saturday

It’s time to start making plans for the garden season. Growing crops from home-grown seeds helps prevent the extinction of garden-variety species and in turn, protects the planet’s biodiversity. It’s also cost-effective and a ton of fun!

Please join us for the 5th Annual Saltair Seedy Saturday for a sale of seeds, plants, veggie starters, gardening supplies, information gathering, and to connect with each other!

What to Expect:
There will be vendors selling:  certified organic seed, seed potatoes, pollinator plants, annuals, native plants, potted bulbs, bulbs, plant starts, veggie starters, strawberry plants, lavender and other garden & food related items.
  • Rotary Club of Ladysmith will be on hand selling tickets to the Annual Rotary Garden Tour for May 26th, 2024.
  • Ladysmith/Saltair Garden club
  • Vancouver Island Master Gardeners will be available for free gardening advice.
  • Brian’s Mason Bees, cocoons, mason bee homes, care/feeding/best practices information
  • Moose and Bean Farm
  • Full Circle Seeds
  • Deep Roots Farm
  • Big D Woodworks will have cedar planters , lattice and garden signage for purchase
Saltair Community Centre Society will have their membership table set up. Come on down to renew or sign up for an annual membership.  $10/yr or $15/yr for a family.  Memberships allow the Society to host events such as Saltair Seedy Sunday,  Saltair Fall  Market and other community related activities.
